Came about as the result of a residency at Durham Carpets, one of the Uk's largest manufacturers. Here I responded to the vibrancy of colour found by producing a series of images that move away from my previous documentary approach into work that had more to do with metaphor, symbolism and a celebration of pure colour and form, whilst retaining a narrative structure to address issues of gender, the drudgery of labour and the need to dream of escaping ones physical boundaries. This period of development was to have a significant effect on my future practice in terms of its stylistic and aesthetic concerns.
